We are so very proud!    Minimize
Congratulations to Diana Workman, CCA, ICDCT-CM, ICDCT-PCS! Diana has recently passed the AHIMA CCA exam on her first attempt utilizing the American Institute of Healthcare Compliance (AIHC) online CCA Exam Prep program.

Diana writes, "This was an informative and concise course that gave me the tools to prep and pass the CCA Certification test through AHIMA. I utilized all of the resources given to me, which included the CCA Prep Guide and a CD Rom which helped  prepare me for the exam. There was an abundant amount of questions and variations of tests to study from. I also reviewed the Power Point Presentation slides and corresponding tests from the CCA prep course, as well as completing the activities in the Medical Terminology: A Short Course book. This book had plenty of activities and tests to sharpen your medical terminology skills. I felt it imperative to complete the coding questions in the Clinical Coding Workout Book and to have a good understanding of the reimbursement methodologies."

Diana strongly expressed that time management was a key element for studying and taking the exam.

Diana is a recent graduate of the AIHC ICD-10-CM and ICD-10-PCS Train-the-Trainer course and has successfully earned her ICDCT-CM and ICDCT-PCS credentials.

The Office of the National Coordinator (ONC) : http://healthit.hhs.gov/

As the nation moves toward a more technologically advanced health care system, providers are going to need highly skilled health IT experts to support them in the adoption and meaningful use of electronic health records. To help address this growing demand, the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) has funded the Health IT Workforce Development Program. The goal is to train a new workforce of health IT professionals who will be ready to help providers implement electronic health records to improve health care quality, safety, and cost-effectiveness.

AIHC Instructor, Marta Kennedy, RN, BS, CPC, CMCO, participated in and completed the training program offered by a local community college for the role of the Implementation Support Specialist.  This training which started January 4, 2011 and was completed May 21, 2011 was a five month period of a great deal of information to learn.

This competency program was inclusive of such topics as, public health, project management, team building skills and many more.  Additional lab time was planned during this five months to work with electronic medical records in understanding components of the hardware and software as well as how to manage and write order sets.

The national competency exams have recently been posted as available for students who have completed a training program.
