The Certified Cost Report Specialist (CCRSSM) credential is designed for novice and seasoned cost report preparers and support staff who would like to enhance their skillset by obtaining a professional certification.  To qualify to take the CCRSSM Certification Exam, you must be a licensed accountant or CPA, Chief Financial Officer, revenue cycle professional, reimbursement professional, accounting staff, or other professional tasked with gathering information for Medicare cost reports at a healthcare organization.  View the Do I Qualify page for more details.

Exam Registration Includes

  • AIHC Membership for Three (3) Months
  • Mock Exam: This Mock Exam reflects the certification exam and will help prepare experienced individuals to pass the certification exam.
  • Two (2) Certification Exam Attempts: This exam is taken online and scheduled with an AIHC proctor.  You will know immediately if you have passed (scoring at least 80%) or failed the exam.  If you score less than 80%, you have the opportunity to schedule a second attempt within your three (3) month deadline.

About the Exam

The online certification exam can be taken remotely from the comfort of your home or office.  Attempts at the exam are only available by appointment with a professional AIHC proctor.

After You Are Certified: Maintaining Your Credential

Once you are certified, you need to maintain your credential by obtaining continuing education units (CEUs).  View the CEU Renewal Chart for a summary of the CEUs required to renew this credential.

 
AIHC offers free and low-cost CEU programs for our members.  We are also CEU friendly and are happy to accept CEUs from most other recognized organizations.  Please Contact Us for more information.

Prerequisites

Basic knowledge of the preparation of Medicare cost reports, with some experience either gathering information for cost reports or actively preparing cost reports for an institutional healthcare organization.

Earn CEUs and Continuing Professional Education (CPE) Credits

18 CEUs

This program has been approved for 18 continuing education units by the American Institute of Healthcare Compliance for AIHC Certified Professionals.  These continuing education units may be applied towards the Core Category CEU Renewal Requirements for the following AIHC credentials: CCRS, CHA, CIFHA, OHCC, CHBS, CHCM.

This program has been approved for 12 continuing education units for use in fulfilling the continuing education requirements of the American Health Information Management Association (AHIMA).  Granting prior approval from AHIMA does not constitute endorsement of the program content or its program sponsor.

The American Institute of Healthcare Compliance is registered with the National Associate of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) as a sponsor of continuing professional education on the National Registry of CPE Sponsors. State boards of accountancy have final authority on the acceptance of individual courses for CPE credit. Complaints regarding registered sponsors may be submitted to the National Registry of CPE Sponsors through its website: www.nasbaregistry.org.

In order to be awarded the full credit hours, you must be present on both days of the training.  You will register your attendance and departure on the sign-in sheets provided at the event sign-in table.

 

Take the CCRS Certification Exam within Three (3) Months of Camp

To take advantage of the exam attempt included in your course tuition, you must take the exam within three (3) months of the last day of the training camp.  If you wait until more than three (3) months after the last day of camp to attempt the certification exam, you must pay for each exam attempt at the rate of $75 per attempt.
